It's the beginning of the third week of Advent on Sunday. It's the week where the Church is asked to reflect on the theme of joy. Two things for you:
1. A column from Ron Rolheiser on the theme that is very good.
2. If you haven't seen this already, it's kind of fun.
On a related note, Erin and I went to see Handel's Messiah last weekend in Calgary. I had never heard the whole thing from start to finish, and had certainly never been to the full live production before. It was sublime. The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra did a wonderful job, the soloists were so good, and there had to have been close to 200 singers in the chorus. I'd love to go again.
Advent has been nice this year, as well. We've been much better this year at praying as a family and lighting our Advent wreath most nights. Maria and I watched "Merry Christmas Charlie Brown" last night and she has already seen "the Grunch" [sic] three times -- big fan.
En"joy" the week!

She's got excellent taste! My favourite by far so long as we're not talking about Jim Carrey. But seeing as we're on the theme of Joy let's just not talk about Jim Carrey... that no good #*$#!
Yah, he pretty much butchered that story. I won't even let Maria watch it.
The day you let Maria watch the Him Carrey version is the day she'll stop believing in Christmas. Mark my words.
